Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Franklin County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies any result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages stay within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, standard server and analytics logs may capture these technical details:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files used to measure traffic patterns, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics services combine that activity into reports. Browser controls can block cookies, though some site functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Franklin County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Franklin County courts, police and jail offices, Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and Pennsylvania Megan's Law Public Website. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party dossiers or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. Review the relevant provider policy before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Franklin County offices, Pennsylvania agencies, courts, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal details.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security measures protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee complete safety, so a breach or unauthorized access remains possible.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults, and information is not knowingly collected from anyone under eighteen. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when required.

Your Data Rights

Applicable Pennsylvania and federal law may provide rights concerning personal data. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§67.101-67.3104, governs public records held by government agencies, while 18 Pa.C.S. §9121 controls state criminal-history dissemination. Neither turns this private site into a government records custodian. A visitor may still:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. An updated copy and effective date will appear here when the practices change.
